On leaving the arch grounds with a group of photographers, we noticed this scene from the old cathedral parking lot with the arch casting 3 shadows of itself on the low lying clouds. I thought this was a rare shot till I was told by an engineer familiar with the lighting designer that it wasn’t supposed to happen at all. They were supposed to turn off the lights in this condition to avoid confusing migrating birds. So it was more rare than I thought.
