I actually drove out to Alton, IL near the Clark Bridge there to photograph eagles. They frequent the area near the Lock & Dam because fish passing through it become discombobulated by the turbulence & are easy pickings for the birds at that spot. However, I arrived before the eagles had awakened in the morning, so decided to photography the lovely Clark Bridge while waiting. Seeing a small tugboat approaching, I waited till it was where I wanted it for the composition & used a long enough exposure to show it’s motion through motion blur. The sunrise was spectacular & it’s colors really make this image of the Mississippi River.
